Gilbert X. Drendel, Jr. (Of Counsel) was born in Aurora, Illinois, in August of 1936. He is a 1958 graduate of Cornell College, summa cum laude, and was a member of Phi Beta Kappa. He graduated from Harvard University Law School in 1961 and has been a practicing attorney in Kane County for more than 45 years. He is admitted to practice in front of all Illinois State Courts, the U.S. District Court, the Northern District of Illinois, U.S. Tax Court and U.S. Court of Appeals, 7th Circuit. Gilbert is a member of the Kane County Bar Association and the Illinois State Bar Association. He was the President of the Kane County Bar Association ( 1976-1977) and served for many years as Chairperson of that Bar Association's Family Law Committee. He was the first Chairperson of the Kane County Judicial Evaluation Committee (1995-1999) and served as a member of the committee until 2005. In 1995, Gilbert was awarded the Community Service Award by the Kane County Bar Association. In 1996, he was awarded the Community Service Award by the Illinois State Bar Association. He has lectured statewide for the Illinois Institute for Continuing Legal Education and is a frequent lecturer on topics relating to family law, pensions, and taxation. Gilbert is one of the Founding Directors and a Member of the Board of Directors of the Bank of North Aurora (Old Second National Bank)(1970-1997). He has been on the Board of Trustees of Cornell College in Mt. Vernon, Iowa since 1993 and was the President of the Board of Trustees 2002 until 2005. He was the Village Attorney for the Village of North Aurora from 1965 until 2001. He was on the Batavia School Board from 1974 until 1980. Gilbert's practice emphasizes family law, adoption, pre-marital agreements, civil litigation, school and municipal law, and real estate zoning and development.
