We are not aware of a time in the history of the KCBA that one attorney has passed the baton as president to another attorney in the same firm. Therefore, Carolyn’s transition to President of the KCBA is historic.
Carolyn’s term will officially start on June 7, 2017, with the Annual Kane County Bar Association annual meeting and dinner, where she will be sworn in as the next President of the Bar Association by 2nd district Appellate Court Justice, Donald Hudson.
The Kane County Bar Association is comprised of over 1200 attorneys, judges, paralegals, and students. It is also the oldest Bar Association in the state, going back to the days that Abraham Lincoln “rode the circuit” on horseback. The KCBA has a rich tradition in the state of Illinois, and the Drendel and Jansons Law Group has an equally rich tradition of leadership in the Bar Association.
Previous presidents of the Bar Association from the Drendel and Jansons Law Group and its predecessor firms include; Gilbert X. Drendel, Thomas McCracken, Susan B. Tatnall (the first female president of the KCBA) and Kevin G. Drendel. In addition to the various past presidents of the Bar Association, various members of the Drendel and Jansons Law Group have been involved chairing and participating in many of the KCBA committees over the years. Members of the law firm have been involved in writing rules that have been implemented in the local courts in collaboration with judges and other leaders of the Bar Association. Members of the law firm have been involved in sharing and presenting at various Continuing Legal Education Seminars for attorneys, serving on the Kane County Judicial Evaluation Committee and serving the Kane County Bar Foundation.
